As a subscriber to LoveFilm (LF) I thought I would share my 2p worth.
- Joined LF mid December 2004 after reading glowing reviews
- Dec 2004 thru Mar 2005 service was outstanding, even after end of free trial period
- Then I understand Tiscali acquired LF
- From then on I experienced a downward spiral in terms of service
- I did not receive the usual e-mail notifications for several weeks
- Turn around on all rentals slowed markedly
- I put down the poor service as the type of typical problems that companies suffer when merging operations
- However, abysmal turn-around time on DVD's has continued right up to today
- LF used to be able to average about 18 DVDs a month ( I have a 3DVD package), now that has reduced to just 12 (3 a week)
- I post DVDs back to LF so that they receive them on a Monday, and yet my replacements take until Saturday to arrive at my home
- It is now quite clear that the promise of unlimited DVD rentals is being throttled to 3 DVDs a week
- This is NOT due to postal delays it is clearly a direct result of a LF policy to limit DVD rentals to paying customers in order to improve the profitability of the LF business
- Reading other posting in the forums I suspect my experiences are very similiar to many others
- I strongly suspect that the acquisition of LF by Tiscali, and possible changes in management, are largely responsible to the deterioration in levels of service to customers
- I can see LF haemorraging their customer base quite rapidly
- What also worries me is that the number of alternative DVD rental choices is being restricted as I have now heard that ScreenSelect has taken over DVD365

This passage says it all.
Agressive is what they have become.
As for growth, they may gain short term by embezzling people with their
agressive plans but long term they will have no customers (except ruggedtoast,j2k4 and maybe a few others)as we all bale out quick style when our payments are due. |
