Sometimes i get discs with absolutely no extras except some trailers, which have clearly been put there especially for this rental copy. And sometimes i get an exact copy of the retail disc.

Obviously, the exact copy of the retail disc is much prefered, as for me now, the extras make up half the movie, as im so used to them.

And what's with the bonus discs, are they available to rent? What are your experiences with extras and bonus discs?

i would think that its up to the movie companies/home video distributors as to what type of discs they release for rental

as you say some appear to be the same as the retail versions but others are special rental versions that are missing lots of bonus features

it would be nice if the rental companies specified what exactly was on the DVD but they rarely do

i think all of them allow you to rent the bonus discs, if the movie has one, but only screenselect and blockbuster count a double disc set set as 1 title where as all the others split them up and count them as seperate titles on your wish list

I just rented Equilibrium, and Final Destination 2 from Filmfour DVD (part of Lovefilm) and FD2 is the full disc, but sadly Equilibrium is not, it's the film with some trailers and scene selection, yet according to play and amazon, it should have a lot more. It's a shame, I'd have loved to have heard the commentary for Equilibrium.
