Easy DVD rental: Latest move by value-for-money group
Partnership with Video Island for easyCinema expansion
Easy Group is entering the online DVD rental market with an extension of its easyCinema brand in partnership with Video Island.
Due to launch in January, the service will operate a pay-as-you-go model, charging £1.99 per DVD rental and offering a 21-day return policy. Customers pay below high street rental prices and can keep DVDs longer.
Easy's latest business aims to capitalise on the success of online DVD rental phenomenon that has taken the UK by storm. The partnership with Video Island is a logical link-up between the businesses, both positioned around value for money offers. Video Island already partners Tesco, MSN and ITV.
Stelios Haji-Ioannou, Easy Group chairman, said: "We’re excited to be entering the online DVD industry with Video Island. Queuing in high street rental stores for a disappointing selection, only to be charged outrageous prices to keep a DVD for a few hours isn’t entertainment.
"easyCinema offers a great service at unbeatable value and we aim to demolish consumer exploitation by high street rental stores."
