Customer service is great, had a problem setting up my account they even rang me to tell me it was sorted. keep up the good work eevee! |

Will carry on trialling. DVDS365 and global e-rental are next on the list mainly due to having a 30 day trial.
And may even pay a subscription rather than do the 14 day trials! |
DVDS365 - One of the better ones right now, quick turnaround, and only a minor problem withem sending the wrong disc at disc 1 of the Sopranos series 2. They sent the first disc of the set of 6 rather than the first disc of the box set. Looked clear as to which was which on the site, but.....
global e-rental - The worst I have tried so far. Got three discs and all three were unplayable. They looked like someone had attached them to a drill and used them to sand a wall! Wouldn't mind so much, but after returning them four days ago the discs are still out and there is little prospect of getting new ones before the weekend. Avoid! |

Yeah, I joined as a paying member recently for a month and given a free DVD, so no complaints - I was quite happy.

Hahaha, funny! Actually, these guys have been really great for me. Just shows how different everyone's experience is.. as we keep saying.
I'm now a member of Zoovies (closed my memberships with ScreenSelect, DVDs365 and LoveFilm now) who despite having a limited DVD collection are really good in turn-around but their website is pretty ordinary, and new release are hard to get. This will be my last membership anyway...
Geez, so many DVD's, I'm going blind.

Hahaha.. I watched a friend play that game - violent but funny! Good luck and don't get too much blood on yours hands. And as for DVDs365, they're a good company so why not.. or LoveFilm. |

Okay, I did say Zoovies were my last trial, so in addition to all the above companies I've trialed, I gave the following a go:
MovieMine
Aaaarrgh, don't even bother - this WILL BE my last trial.
Also, go to http://www.uk-dvd-rental-guide.com for another DVD review website, which is new and not bad. |

Hello all. This Aussie review may not be of any use to you in the UK, but here's a report anyway. There's only a handful of companies and only a few offer free trials, I trialed:
BigPond Movies, HomeScreen, QuickFlix and WebFlicks
The trials are a 2 or 3 DVD package, over 2 weeks. All of their websites are excellent; user-friendly, great features, availability indicator and so forth (I really like QuickFlix website). Customer service was also good and have call-centres. When I signed up, only BigPond and HomeScreen sent DVD's on the same day, but I only received BigPond's DVD's the next day, so in regards to turn-around, BigPond is quickest. The reason being is BigPond have an office in Brisbane, QLD (where I live), whereas the others only have offices inter-state, ie: Sydney, NSW or Melbourne, Victoria hence the slower turn-around. Australia post has far less post to deal with than the UK, so are a bit more laid back and mail usualy arrives in the afternoon. So turn-around is dependent on where you live. Costs and DVD packages are similar across the board. The amount of DVD's with each company vary, but if you're an Anime fan like me, you have a huge selection (moreso than UK).
Ok, that's my 2 cents worth.. And may the DVD be with you! |

Well, I'm now a paying member of BigPond Movies and it's been great. Their turn-around and service has been far superior to any UK company I used when I was back in London. Their website allows you to indicate a DVD has been returned and they will send you another DVD the following day, regardless of whether they've received the posted DVD back in hand or not - awesome! Also, I had a DVD which wasn't watchable, again, you can indicate a damaged disc on their website and state it's been returned.. they sent another DVD the next day, as expected, and sent me an email with an apology for the damaged DVD, and gave me a week's credit, no questions asked - awesome! The downfall for this company is they recently changed their plans and 'unlimited' doesn't exist anymore.. but I'm on an old plan which allows unlimited.. for the time being but may change oneday, but nonetheless, BigPond Movies are great. If you come to Australia.. give these guys a go, including HomeScreen and QuickFlix. |

| I have tried the majority of these companies. Compared to going to the store they are all great. However when compared to each other then its a different story. The main diffrentiators seem to be title range and price. |

I have used the free trials of the above companies and continued with SS and LF
ScreenSelect:
I signed up for 6 week free trial about 2 years ago, the service was good before and after the trial. The website was very slow at the time, but I'm guessing its better now?
Good options like account freezing and online cancellation.
Offered discounted rentals when attempting to cancel
BlockBuster:
Did the free trail about a year ago, I got a good service. They had a good professional website. Didn't continue after trial as I had seen all the movies I wanted to see. Easy to cancel
LoveFilm.
Again I did the free trial. The service was fantastic throughout the trial, I always got the top 3 in my list. As soon as they took payment I haven't received a single DVD (4 weeks now) Emailed 3 times and got response saying they were looking into the problem.
Phoned up and they offered 5 days compensation (5 days to cover the 28 days I lost already, I don't think the customer service is very good at maths)
Refused to give me a refund and had to phone up to cancel (Would be nice to be able to cancel on the web). |
