Hello Julian......
If you check out some all my posts, you will see that I look upon both of them as opposite sides of the same bad coin.
I believe that I have been equally critical of both companies.
As I was with BOTH ScreenSelect + LoveFilm at the same time, this put me in an ideal position to make comparisons.
Last year, I was with both of them and I thought they were both quite good, but this year has seen many major changes and this has left customers like myself, very disgruntled.
Here are 2 topics from April :
http://dvdtrials.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=214&sid=68ecb407708b32a909388d4bfdd6eb3d
This was when LoveFilm started to reduce the amount of discs (capping), yet I still tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I even encouraged others to speak to their customer services, who were quite friendly back then.
Unfortunately, the writing was on the wall as everyone started to get a bad return for their money and this has continued to the present day.
http://dvdtrials.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=215
ScreenSelect decided to emulate LoveFilm's (3 months for the price of 1 offer), with their 2 for 1 offer and for a while, their service was superior to LoveFilm, but it eventually dropped.
During the following months, ScreenSelect provided a slightly better service than LoveFilm in my estimation. Unfortunately, they have gone equally bad as LoveFilm.
So to "cap it all" (pardon the pun), I wouldn't recomend either of them.....even if they both offered 6 months for the price of 1.
btw.....ScreenSelect couldn't offer me enough money to make me want to work for them...... |

Hi Jiltz,
have to agree with you on the quality of service from ScreenSelect, in the last 3 months I have had the grand total of 10-12 dvds each month, and this was prior to the fire.
I seem to constantly have no dvds allocated for around 3 days and then I may get 1 or 2 if I'm lucky out of a list of about 220 titles and this tends to result in me only getting 1 delivery per week.
Yesterday I finally decided that that's it and I was leaving to try someone else but as I have about 20 days until my next payment date though I would see if I could get these days refunded as I have no dvd's at the moment. So I sent an email asking this question and yes you guessed it within no time I had 3 of my top titles allocated and then later on received the email telling me they don't refund partial months. Funny isn't it how you can go for months of never getting 3 dvds allocated and then suddenly you get 3 top titles.
I also agree with the theory of many people who use them that they do cap members who they deem to be heavy users. I work nights in a computer department which involves sitting around all night so can watch 3 dvds in a night and normally get them back into the post the following day but because of this I believe I was capped a long time back but not to the extreme that I seem to be suffering from at the moment.
Oh well never mind, am still leaving them at the end of the month and will not be recommending them to anyone unless they sort themseleves out, there has to be better out there somewhere !!!!!! |

Looks like the Admin done the decent thing and barred them from the forum.......
It brought tears of laughter to my eyes, when I was accused of working for ScreenSelect.
If they really were LF employees, then they have brought shame on their company.

Hi Boardwalk......
Nice post.
Remember and give your self plenty of time to get those final discs returned (when you leave them)......I'm sure you probably know that already....lol
