Cancelled my subscription last week due to the slowness of the service. Nowhere near what it used to be like!

Stupidly I posted the last of my DVD's back over the weekend without getting proof of postage (didn't think - was too hungover! lol), so was worried I might have problems with LoveFilm claiming they hadn't received my discs back.

Thankfully, I've checked their site tonight and my account doesn't seem to exist anymore, so I'm assuming that must mean its 110% cancelled!

All I need to do now is find somewhere else half-decent to start renting from again!

Very Happy

For a second I thought LoveFilm were going to give away something free, because of the topic title......Very Happy

Hi Bennyboy....

You had every right to be worried, because there has been many stories of people cancelling, only to be stung for another month (because they claimed that they never got the discs returned before the deadline).
When I was going to cancel....I had everything prepared >
I deleted every title in my queue.
Then, froze my account and they would have presumed that I was going to stay with them for another month.
As soon as I saw the evidence, that all discs (1 dvd), had been returned....
I unfroze everything.......you can then guess the rest.

Anyway, if you are looking to join somewhere else, always remember that a company can be great one week, then bad thereafter.
IMHO.....there are only 2 that I would recomend at the moment.

MyMovieStream + Blockbuster

Check out the feedback for them.......

Hi Jiltz!

Sorry about the topic header - I realised as soon as I'd posted it, that it might get people thinking that LF might actually be doing something good for once Surprised

I hope they don't charge me another month's membership! My billing date was the 26th of every month, so its not like I've left it to the last minute for cancelling....I'll be making one very angry phone call if a single penny leaves my bank account to LoveFilm HQ.....!! Razz Even then I'll probably go straight through to an answerphone, lol.

Thanks for the recommendations...I'll check them both out and decide the next move from there. I just won't be recommending Love Film to my friends!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

When I cancelled, they eventually sent me an email confirming it.
I would chack and see if you have that email.
If you haven't......I would definately get on the phone to them.

Did the e-mail go something along these lines.....?

Quote:
Your request to cancel your account has been received. Your account will automatically be cancelled when you return the 3 DVDs you are currently renting.

IMPORTANT: Please ensure they are returned before your next billing date (26th Sep 2005), or you will be charged an additional month at your current membership rate.

If you change your mind about cancelling, please contact us to arrange for your account to be re-opened. We'll also give you an extra 2 weeks free!

Best wishes

LOVEFiLM

I haven't received anything to confirm that the account has been closed down - should I contact them about this then?

Normally, I would say it should be ok......but there is nothing normal about LF.

My email was similar, but it didn't mention "the 3 DVDs you are currently renting", because I froze them first (until the last disc was returned), then I cancelled.

The problem with LoveFilm is that once the cancellation has occured (unlike other dvd sites), you can't log in anymore.

Your email doesn't have the feeling of being final for my liking and if it were me, I would be on the phone, just to get it from the horses mouth.

Hope this helps.

Thankfully all sorted now, and I am assured nothing will leave my bank account on the billing date.

I'll be checking my online bank balance very carefully on Sept. 24th needless to say Razz
