Wish I could have at least finished my 3 months before I left them. |

Interesting. The same has just now happened to me too -obviously a way for Lovefilm to discourage those who complain of bad disks, as they can't be bothered to pay for a new one.
My own experiences with Lovefilm have been quite good - true, the number of discs has fallen since the first couple of months, but (on my unlimited 4 disc scheme) I generally get 6 a week or so, which I'm happy with. Plus the search engine on the Lovefilm website is a 1000 times better than any other website bar amazon.co.uk, with far more films to choose from, so that's another plus. DVDs can occasionally be scratched, but usually wiping them with soap and water and drying them afterwards does the trick - these DVDs do freeze on ocasion, even after cleaning. Also, I do wish they would extend the list of films you can choose from c.200 to at least 500-1000.
My own view is that amazon.co.uk is by far the best there is on the market; during my 6-month stay there, they sent and received the DVDs on the very same day. The one problem was that Royal Mail ****** would open the DVDs half the time and watch them for a day before putting them (opened) into my letter-box - still even that was 1-2 days less than it took Lovefilm with unopened DVD packages, and, unlike with one or two cases with Lovefilm, not one failed to arrive in the end. The main trouble with Amazon.co.uk is that they won't yet increase their monthly limit of DVDs beyond 6, which is just plain ridiculous. If they ever do up the limit, I'll take them up instantly. |

| But if Amazon do up their limit from 6 a month, they will be just like lovefilm. No company can offer and fulfill an unlimted supply for 15 quid and break even, let alone make a profit. |

Very true. I'm not actually interested in the "Unlimited" option, though - if Amazon.co.uk were to simply triple or quadruple both the number of DVDs allowed to be rented in a month, while at the same time tripling or quadrupling the price, I would be happy to enter into this sort of scheme - (paying c.£1.66 a disc via amazon.co.uk is a hell of a lot cheaper than paying £3/£3.50 at various high street DVD rental branches).. Needless, to say, I would expect the same extremely high standard of quick delivery and good disc condition as they have now. (I've just now sent them an e-mail suggesting exactly that). |

| Just came across some info that Netflix is opening a UK branch in the auumn. Given that many American acquaintances of mine have praised Netflix's service, I'll switch over to them as soon as I can(perhaps they'll also offer Region 1 DVDs for rent for my regionfree computer, who knows?). The Netflix subscribers do complain of similiar delaying tactics over the "Unlimited" option, but that's understandable to avoid abuse of the system - but they apparaently have no recurring problems with disc quality or being sent the wrong discs etc. |
