This may be useful to many of you who have been ripped off just like me.
http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/
You just type in your postcode and it will give you your local Trading Standards Office, where you can then feed all the dirt on LoveFilm.
I've done this, because they deserve to get punished for taking money under false pretences.
I urge everyone else to do the same.

Looking at the list of big name affiliates that LoveFilm now have, shouldn't we be making these people aware of the bad publicity that will ultimately rub off on them?

I've been on suspension since May 16 because of 3 discs that went missing in the mail...
More discs have gone missing in the mail whilst I was with DVDs365 and they didn't suspend my account...
Anyway, I've called Lovefilm and asked them to either refund my money or re-instate my account. Same BS from them everytime.
They keep saying they're well within their rights as it was stated in their terms and conditions that they can terminate an account at any time.
Only reason I went back to those douche bags was because of their 3 months for 1 deal -- after receiving 1 and a half months, they're trying to get rid of me now.
Is there anything I can do? Does the fact that they stated they reserve the right to terminate your account in their termsn and conditions mean that I have no case for reporting them to anybody (credit card co, fair trading body etc.)?
All I can think of is revenge at the moment... even if I don't get my money or my account back, I want to inconvenience them as much as I can. |

Hi, they state in their Terms they reserve the right to cancel your service if the postal service becomes excessively unreliable. But legally they must refund your money unless they can prove beyond all doubt you are 'stealing disks' or similar, particularly if the DVDs that went missing were from them to you (as in the case). They don't have a leg to stand on basically.
If postal service is poor (i.e. you return disks to many companys and they go missing) then this is highly unlikely and thus they will treat you as a criminal. But I actually worked out that for every 9 people who steal discs, 1 or more genuine people will being ripped off.
I'd like to help you as I nearly had to get a solicitor onto Lovefilm.
Incidently, if as someone on this forum claimed that lost dvds become tax write-offs, all these companies are having a joke and acting illegally if they then charge you extra months or for missing disks.
The DVD rental companies do not make money from moderate or other users. They make money from people who subscribe and forget, and as a general pattern, from ripping people off. |

I signed up to the 3 months for the price of 1 offer and received my one month of paid service (pretty pathetic service btw, slow turnarounds, never priority titles etc.) and then half-way through the 2nd month (free) I had my account suspended indefinately.
Other people on these forums have also experienced the exact same problem.
What they probably do is entice new customers with these huge offers and fraudulently accuse the customer's local mail depots of being responsible.
I'm not saying royal mail employees are totally innocent (since it's pretty easy for them to steal the discs) but have you thought about how easily lovefilm can pretend they've sent out three discs in an effort to find an excuse to suspend the customers account hence get rid of the customer?
If I'd known beforehand they'd screw me this way I probably would have stolen a disc or two to make up for the 1.5 months they cut me short. |

Bit late for those of us who have been suspended already, but how about keeping track of the barcodes when you receive disks (should be unique for each disk).
If it goes missing post the title and the barcode number and then other people can check to see if they get that disk. |

I did that with one rental company (I marked the surface of the disk with a UV pen), and guess what happened, the same "lost in post" disk arrived back when I re-added it to my rental queue. It was a more rare title but made me think it's not just customers up to mischief and blaming the Royal Mail, but large FRAUDLENT companies too. Ok, so they're probably not that large.
Lovefilm is great because they sent me a faulty disc, i informed them of such, returned it marked as faulty, and somehow they sent the same faulty disk again. But I think I did end up with more than my alloted disks to make up for it after I really complained. |

Get this. Not only they freeze my account permanently half-way through the 3 months but now, way over a month later they charge me 13.95 again...
I'm so gonna screw em. |
