Summary of Companies

OK, here is my summary of all the free trials and paid services of the companies I have used.

Blockbuster - The turnaround speed was excellent, however when I used them I had 20 titles in the queue and kept getting e-mails saying that they didn't have any of my choices which was annoying. They seemed to be ok with new DVD's but you never got sent old ones.

DVD's 365 - The choice of DVD's was good, the turnaround speed was a little slow, they didn't do next day turnaround and sent out discs after 6pm, so they definitely were stalling. I wasn't impressed by them.

ScreenSelect - They were good. I didn't like the queueing system but otherwise good choice of films and fast turnaround. I nearly joined them but I ended up joining Lovefilm.

Lovefilm - The free trial was excellent, as was the website and choice, fast turnaround. They sent me an e-mail, first month for £10 which I decided to go for as they had been really good. As soon as I paid they began deliberately stalling, only getting 3 DVD's per week and so I saw out my month and left.

Global e-rental - The choice of DVD's is poor. Turnaround speed is steady but slow, not really a great website. Distinctly average.

Cinema Paradiso - Turnaround speed good, choice ok. I never got any of the newer releases in my queue, only the older films. Be wary of this company when you cancel, make sure if you keep DVD's after you cancel that you get proof of postage when you send them back as I get the impression this company is out to screw people if it can.


I think overall the best were Screenselect, Lovefilm and Blockbuster. I am going to sign up to Blockbuster again as a paying customer as I think they seem to have the best turnaround from the feedback on this site. If there is anyone with Screenselect, what are they like when you pay?
