Just to let everyone know......I am into my second week with this offer and "touch wood" everything has been fine so far.

I got 2 lots of dvds last week (6 discs) and I should receive another lot tomorrow, which will make it the same as last week.

So in effect.....12 dvds in 2 weeks is excellent service.

The only slight ********* is the fact that they don't always sent the discs at the top of my list, but as long as the discs are pouring through my letterbox......who cares !!!

I just hope it continues like this.

Very Happy

Since my above post, I have become slightly disappointed with them.

The consistancy has gone, as they there is now delays in them sending out discs and also receiving them.

Also they haven't sent me a single film from the top 5 of my list since I have been with them. They always send me discs from the bottom, so I am considering turning my list upside down to see if I will have any more luck.

If one could imagine a 3 horse race (Screen Select, LoveFilm and Blockbuster).......It started a few weeks ago with Screen Select and Blockbuster being neck and neck with Lovefilm lagging a long way behind. Then from the back.........comes LoveFilm making a strong comeback and overtaking ScreenSelect, but still a long way behind the eventual winner......Blockbuster

Still a good deal (2 for 1), unfortunately, they will have to pull their socks up over the next few weeks or they will be "non runners" in any future race.

I took screenselect up on the 2 for 1 deal too, and all was good for the first month, but the second month has been terrible, i sent my discs back on Saturday, and so far have recieved 1 disc since then, the other 2 slots have been stuck on "awaiting allocation", and when you try to use the problem solver it tells you that it hasn't been 24 hours since the slot was cleared...hmm..i guess Screenselect live in a diffrent time zone from the rest of us....

There's no way i'm gonna stick with them at the end of the 2 for 1 if its gonna be back to this cr*p again, this is my third time round with Select and as always they start good then die a quick death, the only reason i keep coming back is the offers, if only they would learn, provide a cosistent service all or most of the time instead of messing around and folks wouldn't leave and you wouldn't have to keep giving away free month offers etc...

I would rather a company set a limit on what they sent up front, rather than start dragging there feet to slow up how many rentals you can get...and blame it on royal mail, even though your 3 slots are awaiting allocation... Rolling Eyes even with 172 titles on my list....

Looks like its back to Blocky for me, at least 2 discs editions etc come as one.. Smile

Hi Highlander........ Wink

Looks like we are in the same boat as far as Screen Select are concerned.

I also noticed a drastic change of service from them as they seem to have capped my service.
I phoned them last week about the "awaiting allocation" which seems to have become a permanant fixture. I wanted to know why they have throttled my 3 DVDs down to 1, but she didn't have a clue what I was talking about as she tried in earnest to give her explanation of things.
So I ended up just doing the sensible thing.....putting down the phone.

They are still not as bad as LoveFilm though, because in the first month with Screen Select, I was receiving on average about 6 dvds a week, it's just a pity that they decided to start neglecting me, so I am just going to let things run out.....then it will be GOODBYE.....who knows maybe another day, with another offer....lol

Just like yourself.......I think Blockbuster are far superior to Screen Select.

I was going to take up the 2 for 1 after i finish my atrocious stint with loathfilm, but after your comments i,m not so sure now. Confused
Just out of interest, why did you two leave blocky Question
I left a few months back because even though i had about 70 titles on my list,i kept getting emails telling me that i needed to add titles 'cos all on my list were rented, which i found quite unbelievable and it meant a delay in sending me anything. It was a shame cos out of the companies i have used (all of them)they where shaping up as the best and the only one i stayed with for more than 2 months (6 months). The 2 disc edition mailing was unique to them and was excellent, but i found it hard to get a lot of the 2 disc titles which i placed at the top of my list, mainly music ones.

Hey guys,

Mostly becasue of the 2 for 1 offer in my case, they dangled the carrot and i jumped at it Very Happy if my second month had been half as good as my first it would have been ok, but as i said to Jiltz, i sent back my discs last Saturday, and here it is Saturday again and i've had 1 smeging disc Crying or Very sad

I'll be jumping back to blocky when my second month is up (19th june) they weren't always the fastest, but they've alwasy been fairly consistent when i've used them,

i guess 1 full month and one half assed month with select for £7 aint bad,.. which reminds me, when i did sign up for the 2 for one i got a message saying the i would only be charged £7 right away etc blah blah blah, it turned out my account was in credit but they decided to "hang onto the credit" incase i came back to them ? i wonder if i could convince my bank to do the same for me, i'll just hang onto your money "incase" Shocked Laughing

The 2 for 1 ends next week and I'll be cancelling early in case they decide to charge me for another month.

I've noticed that they have uncapped me again and there is no "Awaiting Allocation" so things seem to have picked up again.
Unfortunately, it is too late for them.

They are not as bad as some, but they don't seem to like heavy users.

btw Bazwaldo.......I'm still with Blockbuster...... Wink

All this nonsense from the rental compaines has made me not subscribe to any of them.

Back to the 'real world' of dvd rental shops. No waiting or watching films you don't want to see.

Ask yourself this, would you really spend £180 a year on dvd rentals in a shop? Padding your sellections with cr*p just to make up the numbers?

I think NOT.

EXACTLY !! Very Happy

A lot of people don't seem to realise that it is not everyone who wants the up-to-date movies, of which only a few are even worth watching in my opinion.
The last time I was in my local Blockbuster shop, I ended up walking out empty handed.....they had nothing of any interest to me.

So the online rentals have been great for me, as I have even been able to watch many of my favourite tv series.

Thats bang on the money for me too Jiltz!

I went into Blocky to see if it would be worth while just renting instore without turn around problems, but they didnt have a single disc of any tv series that i was looking for or many tv series full stop for that matter, but online i've been able to get hold of all of them, except for the turnaround fiasco it's been just what i needed,

I get the last disc of 6 from Law and Order SVU this week...hopefully, the guys in blocky just went "huh" when i asked about it when i couldnt find it instore....

We have the same vision Highlander and I'm sure there are many others like us.......Very Happy

Online dvd rentals rule......Very Happy

In the past 6 month I've enjoyed watching old episodes of Minder....and I wouldn't even think of asking if they stock them in my local Blockbuster shop......lol

Well, that's my 2 for 1 offer finally finished......deleted all the title in my queue and returned the last disc with proof of postage (as I don't want to be charged any more money).

MY VERDICT:

The first month was great
Second month......not so great (they decided to cap me)
Would I join them again?.......Maybe yes.....Maybe not.

Very Happy

Don't know what others think?

I certainly did.......LOL

It would be nice if the dvd rental companies, did a theme tune on their sites, such as the Minder theme, "I could be so good for you".
