Not the fault of the rental companies, I know but I just wanted to ask if anyone else has had so many of their DVDs lost/damaged in the mail:

DVDs365
-- March 17, 2005 - DVD lost
-- March 1, 2005 - DVD lost
-- February 15, 2005 - DVD lost
-- February 14, 2005 - DVD lost
-- January 25, 2005 - DVD lost
-- January 21, 2005 - DVD damaged in transit
-- January 17, 2005 - DVD lost

LOVEFiLM
-- January 12, 2005 - DVD lost
-- December 29, 2004 - DVD lost
-- December 28, 2004 - DVD lost
-- December 28, 2004 - DVD lost

I'm surprised (and glad) I weren't charged for any of them, however now, despite hundreds of complaints to the mail service, I still suffer from regular delays and occasional loss.

That's quite a few but I'm not far off.

In all my trialing from November to March I've had 6 DVDs not arrived and 3 that I returned not turn up in my returned list. I had one DVD 7days after it was sent!! It had been opened and was taped back together along the serrated edge!? I've had none damaged in the post and 6 faulty DVDs that wouldn't play because they were scratched to hell and shouldn't have been in circulation if they did their checks properly.

The losses the bigger companies have must be mind boggling.

LOVEFILM (yeah, I'm back with them):
-- April 07, 2005 - DVD lost

If I could report it as missing now, I wouldn't be so ticked off -- but no, I have to wait a few more days before I can.

Also sent another back 2 days ago, still hasn't shown up as returned...

In my experience with the mail service, if it doesn't get to where it's going in 2 days (tops) it's lost. Dang.

I had a 5-disc deal with Blockbuster, so was getting quite a few DVD's.

Twice now I have had DVD's from Blockbuster meant for someone else. The address was only round the corner, so it must have been my postie being lazy in sorting his round!

It does make you wonder.....

LOVEFILM:
-- April 08, 2005 - DVD lost

Not to mention my last two DVDs arrived opened!

Threw accusations of possible theft by Mailmen around because it's starting to look like they check each one out to see if they'd like to snag it.

Yeah, DVD companies state to give at least 5 or so days for an item to be received to or from, which is a joke, and I believe that if at least 3 days goes by and nothing, then it's certainly lost and you should be allowed to report it lost instead of waiting for nearly a week. Evil or Very Mad

Lovefilm have a knack for losing DVDs. I used blockbuster for 2 months and managed to get one lost. Currently with Lovefilm and so far 4 have gone missing?

Are the posties pilthering Lovefilm ones only? Or do they pretend they go missing to slow the process down big time. Funny how they only go missing en-route to them and never en-route to me.

Marty, I'm afraid LOVEFiLM's policy is to wait 5 business days (in other words a week)... that's why I'm so angry...

Worst part, the day you report it, they won't ship a replacement or another movie so it's like losing a week and one day...

Anyway, HateLoveFilm, I agree with you... Hardly any DVDs went missing with any rental company I've been with except Lovefilm.

These days I'd be lucky to receive more than one DVD a week. If DVDs arrive, they arrive in 2 days as opose to 1 day which they used to and a funny thing I noticed is how almost everytime I send a DVD back, it doesn't show up on their site as been returned until I email them and complain about it.

Starting to turn against LOVEFiLM more than the mail service.

The are 3 people that could be robbing. 1/Postie that empties the PB you mail the dvd in, 2/someone in the sorting office or 3/the postie that delivers to lovefilm...or as you say it could be lovefilm using stalling tactics, wouldnt suprise me.

Have you tried using a different postbox? One that is some distance from your usual one, ie. one emptied by a different postie. I found that lovefilm got them back quicker when I used a certain PB (I used one closer to work than home), maybe the postie of that box was less lazy or had a smaller round??.

If you find that they arent going missing with this new PB that will tell you that it was choice (1). If you dont then you know its one of the other 3, although I cant think of anyway of testing those.
I also find that giving LF a subtly worded letter suggesting you may leave improves servise for a couple of weeks. When I did this with another company they gave me a week free and gave me a (secret) link to a page that showed all the last dvds to be added to the system, thats what I call CS!.

Hope all this babble helps lol

Just to balance it up, I've just cancelled my lovefilm because of a slow turnaround, but in the time I was with them, I never had a single disc go missing, and I'd say that's out of 50-100, which isn't bad.

Just had my Lovefilm account suspended due to 3 disks "going missing" in the last month.

I'm also just being contacted by the Royal Mail about 2 that went missing in November (during my original free trial)

Like a lot of the other coments, I have been using other Online Rentals for quite a while (over 18 months) and not lost this many disks with all the other companies added together.

I may be being overly suspicious, but these disks seem to go missing at times of "high demand" and this time just happens to coincide with the end of my paid month and the beginning of my two free ones!! Evil or Very Mad

I hear ya Taliesin71.

Recently, they've been losing so many discs now I ain't bothered to keep track anymore. Something like 1 of every 3 discs go missing! In their last customer service email reponse they notified me of their new site feature for reporting lost discs. Not sure if once I start using that it'll suspend my account and if it will, would it be like freezing my account or would they investigate the situation whilst the account clock is still rolling?!

I just wanna find out which s.o.b. is responsible for all the lost discs so I can wrap my hands around his neck and end him.

Lost discs, stolen by the postie? Maybe so, or they were never sent in the first place? Idea

That's something I considered Marty, but... it's the third time now that my incoming envelopes have been pre-opened. My guess is someone's looking in the envelopes to see if it's something they'd like to snag...

They've lost so many DVDs now I've resorted to calling them and making a new complaint every day until they get off their butts and do a thorough investigation of the problem.
