Hi All,
Would like to do the free trial with cinemaparadiso. Anybody got any experience with them? Also, I can't find the terms and conditions on their site. Are they hidden somewhere? Any info. appreciated.
Cheers,

Seems like they give a couple more days to return dvds after you cancel

| Cinemaparadiso are one of the little guys, and have since changed the look of their website which looks better. They seemed an okay bunch, but nothing special. |

Hi all,
These guys are slow. Signed up on Monday and they dispatched the first dvd on same day but still haven't received it (Now Friday). N.B. They only send one DVD at first to "confirm the address" then when they receive that back you get three at a time. They say on the their site to allow 5 (working) days for delivery so that means I can't register it missing until Monday, then they will send another DVD presumably and by the time I get that and send it back my 14 trial period will be up. Pretty pathetic don't you think. 1 DVD in 14days, and that’s being optimistic at the moment.
Cheers,

Hi all
After a very slow start because of the first DVD getting lost in the post (which lost me half my 14 day trial) they weren't bad at all. Turn over wasn't bad and got stuff near or at the top of the list. Cancellation went without a hitch. My overall gut feel about these guys is good and I have read nothing on this site which is negative about them so I may go back to them at some point.
Negatives - Customer service didn't reply to my e mails re. the loss of half my free trial. Would have been nice to be offered at least another week. Indeed, one thing that has become apparent to me during all my trialing and that is having a contact phone number for customer service is a must. Unfortunately Paradiso like many others don't have a number. My advice to all these companies is get some phones installed. It gives us consumers more confidence in your service.
Cheers,

**** at Cinema Paradiso is an idiot. I have received 2 letters regarding a missing DVD, which I NEVER received, and they intend charging me.. well, they have asked me to send a chq for payment, which is stupid as I don't intend too. As per their Terms and Conditions, it states:
| Quote: | DVDs Lost in the Post
We will bear the risk of the Rental DVDs being lost in the post once you have posted them back to us provided that you take care of and return them to us in accordance with these terms, and subject to you returning a completed Lost Item Declaration Form available from any Post Office. If a Rental DVD you are expecting hasn’t arrived 5 days after the dispatch date, you need to notify us via our website. If the DVD arrives after your notification please return it to us immediately. Otherwise we will report the lost item to the Royal Mail and they may contact you. In order not to be responsible for the lost item, you must respond to Royal Mail letter with the time frame specified by them. Failure to do so will automatically result in your card being charged for £20.00 for every lost DVD. |
So, if a DVD was not received, then it's Royal Mail who they should contact and not myself. These guys are just trying to make some money and they have not replied to ANY of my emails, so have sent them a letter in the post. This is an outrage, grrrr ... |

When you post by 1st class you are insured for up to £28 or retail value which is lower.
But think you need proof of postage, but these rental companies and mailers they used should have a similar level of insurance.
I had a handful dvds lost in the post but rental companies say they will notify royalmail. I may have to fill in a form to confirm that dvd was lost in post by royalmail. But havent received any forms from royalmail. This form by royalmail must be a way to make sure dvd rental company isnt making up the claim. |

That's right. I too never received a form from Royal Mail and I was expecting one regarding this lost DVD, but instead they try and bill me first. It's a worry sometimes how some people run a business.. |

Marty73:
**** and her ****** friends at Cinema Paradiso also tried to charge me for a missing DVD after I had cancelled (unsuprisngly..) and had returned it.
Their letter was nothing short of a joke. It looked like it had been printed on a Hewlett Packard domestic printer and also asked for cheque or postal order payment only (from what I will tell you next this figures as they do not want you to have any credit card chargeback power when you hopefully realise this is a con practice they regularly engage in).
The letter also threatens that they will damage my credit record but this is not possible because I do not have a credit agreement with them. It's also illegal.
Sure, they could take me to county court but i very much doubt it. So this is a silly threat, in fact as silly threat much like the fact the letter had numerous spelling errors such as "Make cheques to Cinema Pardiso". What hope if they can't even spell their own name!
Everyone should be aware of this practice. |

Hi andym, thanks for your msg.. it is rather amusing! I finally got an email (and another scary letter) from ****, some part quotes below:
| Quote: | | Your never reported that you did not receive ‘Joan of Arc’ and for this reason, I am unable to cancel your invoice. |
Umm, I did report it.. several times!
| Quote: | | However, as you are saying that you never received it, I will send a claim to the the Royal Mail requesting compensation. They will contact you in the next few weeks to confirm that you never received the disc and as soon as we receive a response from them, we can refund you in full. In the meantime, I would advise that you pay this invoice to avoid further charges. It usually takes between 2-5 weeks (after Easter holidays obviously) for the Royal Mail to process the claim. |
Obviously I'm not paying, and yes, they mentioned my credit rating would be affected, blah, blah, blah.. Like you said andym, it's a con.
My reply stated that I abided by their Terms and Conditions re: a lost DVD and that Royal Mail is liable for any charges, and not me. End of story.. |
